FEEDBACK

The title font, size and color need to be modified. Use Chinese as the main title, preferably in a more traditional Chinese style, similar to the font used in New Year's cards, and make the Chinese title larger and more prominent. Delete some unnecessary elements that do not match the style.

REFLECTION

Experience
Creating a book from concept to print was an enlightening journey that tested my design and organizational skills. Starting with brainstorming ideas, refining layouts, and making style adjustments based on feedback, I learned the importance of attention to detail. Printing brought a tangible sense of accomplishment, seeing digital efforts translated into a physical form.

Observation
The process revealed how technical choices—such as paper quality, binding type, and print dimensions—affect the final product's aesthetics and usability. Experimentation and real-time adjustments were crucial to achieving the desired outcome.

Finding
This project highlighted that successful publishing relies not only on creative ideas but also on meticulous planning and technical execution. Collaboration and feedback are essential to elevate quality and ensure a cohesive, polished result.

FURTHER READING

 The Design of Books

When reading the cover design section of The Design of Books, I gained a deeper understanding of how to convey the theme of a book through design. The book mentions that the cover is not only a manifestation of visual appeal, but also needs to accurately convey the content and temperament of the book through fonts, colors and layout elements. For example, when discussing font selection, the author carefully analyzed the impact of serif and sans serif fonts on readers' psychology, which made me re-examine the power of words. A well-designed title font can hint at the emotional tone of the story, while the background color can set off the overall atmosphere. In this chapter, I learned the skills to balance innovation and functionality, not only to be "beautiful" but also to be "meaningful".

In the chapter involving the layout of the inner pages, the author used details as the starting point to explain how the spacing between text, line spacing and graphic layout affect the fluency and experience of reading. I was particularly impressed by the part about "white space" - by reducing the amount of crowded information, appropriate white space can improve the readability and high-end feeling of the content. The book uses cases to analyze some examples of failed layouts, which made me realize that even a small adjustment may change the "aura" of the entire book. After reading this chapter, I deeply felt that while designers pursue artistic beauty, they also need to respect the order and logic of the content.
