INTRODUCTIONS

LECTURES

 Box Styles Folding

Folding Cartons: Made from paperboard, commonly used for lightweight products (e.g., cereal boxes).

Rigid Boxes: Known for durability and non-collapsible structure, suitable for high-end or heavy items.

Corrugated Boxes: Characterized by a fluted layer between two flat layers, providing strength. These are ideal for shipping and display purposes.

Reverse Tuck End (RTE) and Straight Tuck End (STE): Both are cost-effective and commonly used, with RTE preferred for lightweight products.

Tuck Top Snap-Lock Bottom (TTSLB) and Tuck Top Auto Bottom (TTAB): Designed for heavier items, they offer easy assembly but are more expensive.

8 Rules of Packaging Design

Knowing the Customer: Understanding the target audience helps tailor packaging to consumer needs and preferences.

Form Follows Function: Design should match the product's practicality, ensuring usability without over-complicating.

Simplicity Sells: Minimalist designs are popular for their elegance and clarity in a competitive retail space.

Brand Representation: Packaging should reflect and reinforce the brand's identity.

Testing and Competitor Analysis: Mockups and competitive research ensure that the design is effective and distinctive.

Consistency and Printing Quality: For product lines, consistent design is essential, and high-quality printing enhances the professional look of packaging.

Our coffee cup sketch is based on latte art and coffee beans, but it was so common that we needed to do something creative.

Week 5 General Feedback: coffee cup design feedback. Specific Feedback: Continue and revise the draft of the beige version

REFLACTION

I benefited a lot from this coffee cup design, first of all, our group encountered the difficulty of deciding on the design theme of the coffee cup, we agreed that we could use coffee beans and latte art elements, but this lacked innovation. Under the guidance of miss, we continued the design of one of the sketches and added some innovations and highlights. I got a lot of experience.
